Our students work toward Colorado state licensure as Professional Counselors (LPC) and Marriage and Family Therapists (LMFT) while concurrently earning post-graduate certifications and credentialing in a wide array of clinical specializations, including but not limited to:

The Colorado School for Family Therapy, founded in 1995 by Dr. Reo Leslie, Jr., is approved and regulated by the Colorado Department of Higher Education, Private Occupation School Board. The School provides an advanced learning experience and direct clinical practice with families, couples and individuals. It provides clinicians with the necessary education to become skilled system/relational therapists and leaders in their field.

Mission Statement:
The Colorado School for Family Therapy is committed to academic excellence, clinical innovation, and professional development through teaching, supervision, and mentorship. We prepare students to become proficient practitioners and competent psychotherapists in the mental health field and business arenas who practice ethically and effectively as skilled professionals with demonstrated knowledge of social and cultural diversity. Our programs, curriculum, continuing education opportunities, and exam preparation workshops focus on diversity, business skills, career development, specialized treatments, clinical practice, State Licensure, and leadership. Finally, we provide an advanced learning experience and direct clinical practice through our mental health clinic, The Healing Place, where we provide quality systemic and relational therapy to diverse populations and members of the community, including individuals, couples, and families.
Diversity Statement:
The Colorado School for Family Therapy provides a learning context in which understanding and respect for diversity and non-discrimination are fundamentally addressed, practiced, and valued in our curriculum, program structure, and clinical training. The School recruits and retains a diverse faculty, board of directors, student body, clinical supervision staff, and clinical site selection list. The School address issues related to power and privilege as they correlate to sociocultural factors, and provides students with opportunities to work with a diverse client population during their matriculation.
Marriage and Family Therapy Program Mission Statement
The Colorado School for Family Therapy’s Marriage and Family Program is dedicated to graduating students who are prepared for the multiple accountabilities of state licensure, professional organization membership, and practicing the mental health profession in the contemporary marketplace effectively by integrating theoretical, clinical, spiritual, religious, cultural, ethical, personal, leadership, diversity, career, and business issues in their practice of systemic/relational marriage and family therapy.
Our program prepares students to become proficient Marriage and Family Therapists through course curriculum, clinical supervision, clinical practice, mentorship, and exam preparation. Students receive comprehensive supervision and mentoring from a diverse staff of teaching faculty and clinical supervisors that prepares them to meet the needs of diverse populations.
Our program emphasizes a systemic/relational and integrative theoretical orientation with the opportunity to become certified in various specialized forms of treatment that augment the practice of marriage and family therapy. Student develop a working understanding of the theoretical foundations in the field of marriage and family through coursework and research, clinical knowledge through practicum experience, professional identity as a marriage and family therapist through an understanding of and adherence to the AAMFT Code of Ethics and federal/state/local laws pertaining to the mental health field, and a working knowledge of both individual and family development across the lifespan to appropriately assess, diagnosis, and treat individuals, couples, and families.
