Dr. Leslie is an expert witness in the Mental Health field with more than 15 years of experience. Some of his areas of expertise are lawsuits, malpractice, and licensure board complaints.


            Dr. Reo N. Leslie, Jr. is an ordained  pastor in the Baptist (PNBC), the Pentecostal  and the United Church of Christ (UCC) denominations.  He is the Founder, CEO and School Director of the Colorado School for Family Therapy,,  a 501 © (3) non-profit organization and school that educates counselors, clinical supervisors, licensure candidates, psychotherapists, and ministers.  The School is approved and regulated by the State of Colorado Department of Higher Education division of Private Occupational Schools (DPOS).  Dr. Leslie has also taught graduate courses in play therapy, religious studies, theology,  nonprofit management, ethics, marriage and family therapy, psychology and counseling on the M.A. and Ph.D. levels.  Dr. Leslie consults with churches, government agencies, law firms, religious organizations and others on educational, psychotherapeutic, ethical, spiritual and multi-cultural issues.  He is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), a Certified Addiction Counselors Level III (CAC III),  and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in  Colorado, a Clinical Member and an Approved Supervisor of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT), a Registered Play Therapist Supervisor (RPT-S) of the Association for Play Therapy (APT), a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC) and an Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS) with the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC).  Dr. Leslie is also an approved provider of the Jurisprudence Workshop required for psychotherapists in Colorado.  He has taught at the University of Northern Colorado (UNC) , the University of Guam (UoG), the Denver Family Institute, Salve Regina University, Naropa University, Argosy University, Asbury Theological Seminary and  at his own school. Dr. Leslie was voted the first “ Supervisor of the Year “ in 2003 by the Colorado Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (CAMFT) Board of Directors for his supervision of MFT and AAMFT Approved Supervisor candidates. In July 2005 Dr. Leslie was appointed to the Board of Professional Counselor Examiners by Governor Owens. In July 2006 he was elected Board Vice Chair. In September 2007 Dr. Leslie was appointed by Governor Ritter as the Mental Health and Substance Abuse Representative on the Commission on Criminal and Juvenile Justice and he served until July 2012. He also served on the State of Colorado Drug Policy Task Force. Dr. Leslie is the Founder/President of The Colorado Mental Health Professionals Association: a multidisciplinary advocacy and public policy professional organization. With Dr. Leslie’s leadership and testimony in the Colorado House and Senate; HB 14-1271, which he initiated, became State law.               

           Since ordination in 1977, Dr. Leslie has served in several parish and institutional ministries including churches in Chicago, Detroit, San Diego, Washington, D.C. and Denver.  Dr. Leslie has had chaplaincies in two hospitals, a drug-abuse center, a federal prison, the military, a youth home and a circuit of college campuses.  He has earned several degrees including a Masters of Divinity from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary (1977), a Master of Science in Theology from McCormick Theological Seminary (1982), a Master of Arts in International Relations from United States International University (1989), a Master of Science in Management from Salve Regina University (1990), a Master of Arts in National Security and Strategic Affairs from the Naval War College (1990), and a Doctor of Ministry in Psychology and Theology from Chicago Theological Seminary (1979).   During the 1980’s, Dr. Leslie studied the Person Centered Approach (PCA) to psychology with Dr. Carl Rogers and his associates at the Center for the Studies of the Person and the Carl Rogers Institute for Psychotherapy, Training and Supervision in San Diego, CA.  He has training in Jungian Psychology from the C. J. Jung Institute of Denver, Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Denver Center for Marital and Family Studies, and Play Therapy from Rocky Mountain Solutions.

           Dr. Leslie has presented papers, workshops, classes and lectures at professional conferences. In his work and studies, Dr. Leslie has traveled to Ghana, Guam, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Nigeria, Kenya, Japan, Korea, Thailand, Australia, Singapore, the Netherlands, the Philippines, the Canary Islands, Mexico, Canada, Antigua, Jamaica, the Cayman Islands, Hawaii, Wisconsin, Washington, Vermont, and British Columbia.
